Senior Gujarat Police Officers to Stay Overnight in Border Villages

Gandhinagar: Under the guidance of Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, eight senior police officers of the state will undertake a two-day visit to 16 border villages in the districts of Vav-Tharad, Patan and Kutch on June 11 and 12. As part of the initiative, the officers will stay overnight at the homes of local residents in the villages.
The primary objective of the programme is to further strengthen the security of Gujarat’s international and interstate borders while ensuring the welfare and well-being of citizens living in border areas.
Under the special outreach programme, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Vabang Zamir will visit Asargam and Rachhena villages in the Vav-Tharad region. ADGP Ajay Kumar Choudhary will visit Shirani Vandh and Jatavada villages in Kutch (East), while Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bipin Shankarrao Ahire will tour Dhokwada and Charanka villages in Patan district.
Similarly, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) A. M. Muniya will visit Radosan and Golap villages in the Vav-Tharad area. In Kutch (West), DIGP K. N. Damor will tour Juna and Dedhiya villages, while DIGP Dr. Leena Patil will visit Udhamo and Patagar villages. ACP R. T. Susara will stay in Puranjpur and Gunau villages, and DIGP Sudha S. Pandey will visit Dinara and Bhitara Mota villages.
Officials said the two-day Border Village Visit Programme is not merely a ceremonial exercise but a comprehensive initiative aimed at reviewing border security and assessing conditions in rural frontier regions. During the visit, senior officers will inspect the preparedness of security agencies, interact with police personnel posted in remote areas, hold night meetings, engage directly with villagers, and review various issues related to security, public welfare and border management.
The initiative is expected to strengthen coordination between security agencies and local communities while enhancing vigilance and confidence in Gujarat’s strategically important border regions.
