May 15, 2026
Ahmedabad: Passengers travelling between Gujarat and Rajasthan are likely to face inconvenience as the operation of several important trains has been affected due to infrastructure work on the Madar–Palanpur railway section.
According to railway authorities, a traffic block has been imposed for RCC box launching work on Bridge No. 605 between Awam and Bhinwalia stations under the Ajmer Division of North Western Railway. The work has led to route diversions and timetable changes for multiple long-distance trains during May 14–15.
Key trains diverted
To facilitate construction work, several trains have been diverted through the Luni–Bhildi–Mehsana route instead of their usual Palanpur–Abu Road route.
The affected trains include:
- Hanumangarh–Dadar Express
- Bhagat Ki Kothi–Bandra Terminus Express
- Bandra Terminus–Bhagat Ki Kothi Express
- Bengaluru–Jodhpur Express
- Sabarmati–Jammu Tawi Express
- Sabarmati–Jodhpur train
- Sriganganagar–Bandra Terminus train
These trains will now operate through Mehsana–Bhildi–Luni, with additional stoppages provided at Patan, Bhildi, Jalore and Marwar Bhinwal stations.
Major inconvenience for Ahmedabad and Palanpur passengers
The route diversion is expected to significantly affect passengers travelling from Ahmedabad, Palanpur and Abu Road sectors, as diverted trains will bypass several regular stations.
The trains will not halt at:
- Palanpur
- Abu Road
- Unjha
- Siddhpur
- Pindwara
- Falna
- Pali Marwar
- Sabarmati
Passengers travelling particularly between Ahmedabad and Abu Road are expected to face greater difficulty due to these changes.
Other operational changes
Railways has also announced additional operational adjustments:
- Jodhpur–Bandra Terminus train will halt for 15 minutes at Marwar Junction
- Sabarmati–Gwalior train will be regulated for 20 minutes between Abu Road and Bhinwalia
Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status and schedule updates through official railway platforms before beginning their journey to avoid inconvenience.
