Pre-Monsoon Rains Hit Gujarat: Here’s 24-Hour Rainfall Data

Ahmedabad: Several parts of north and central Gujarat received pre-monsoon rainfall during the 24-hour period ending at 6 am on Sunday, bringing relief from the recent spell of intense heat. According to data released by the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), Gandhinagar, Mahisagar district’s Virpur taluka recorded the highest rainfall at 29 mm.
Aravalli district’s Modasa followed closely with 28 mm of rain, while Shehera in Panchmahal and Bhiloda in Aravalli received 24 mm each. Vadali in Sabarkantha and Kadana in Mahisagar recorded 22 mm of rainfall during the period. In total, 45 talukas received rain in the last 24 hours, and Virpur and Modasa were the only places where rainfall exceeded one inch.
Among other major rainfall centres, Morwa (Hadaf) in Panchmahal and Dhansura in Aravalli received 20 mm each, while Khedbrahma in Sabarkantha recorded 18 mm. Dohad taluka in Dahod district received 17 mm, followed by Sathamba in Aravalli with 16 mm and Malpur with 15 mm.
Rainfall of 14 mm was recorded in Vijaynagar (Sabarkantha) and Kavant (Chhota Udepur), while Bodeli in Chhota Udepur received 12 mm. Idar, Meghraj and Shamlaji each recorded 10 mm, while Himatnagar received 9 mm of rainfall.
Several other talukas recorded light to moderate showers, including Singvad, Bayad and Santrampur (8 mm each), Kalol and Limkheda (7 mm each), Garbada, Devgadbaria and Lunawada (6 mm each), and Vadgam, Jambughoda and Sanjeli (5 mm each).
Light rainfall was also reported from Halol, Chhota Udepur and Sankheda (4 mm each), Amirgadh, Fatepura, Nandod and Godhar (3 mm each), Godhra, Balasinor, Kothamba and Jetpur Pavi (2 mm each), while Danta, Gandhinagar, Dhanpur and Kadval received 1 mm of rain.
The rainfall activity was concentrated mainly across the districts of Aravalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Dahod and Chhota Udepur, in line with the prevailing weather conditions over the region.
