AMC Imposes ₹50 Lakh Penalty on Naroda Flyover Contractor for Delay
June 11, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a penalty of ₹50 lakh on the contractor responsible for the Naroda Flyover project due to delays in execution, Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel said on Thursday.
Addressing the media after the weekly Standing Committee meeting, Patel said the flyover was originally scheduled for completion by December 2026. But due to the delays in obtaining approvals from the Forest Department, along with the negligence on the part of the contractor, the project will miss the deadline.
Keeping this in mind, the civic body has levied a penalty of ₹50 lakh on the contractor. Patel added that the revised completion deadline for the flyover has now been extended to July 2027.
Patel also stated that the Sindhubhavan Multilevel Parking project, for which the work order was awarded earlier, has now been cancelled after the contractor failed to execute the project satisfactorily. The security deposit was forfeited, and the land, along with the construction cost, has now been put up for sale. The matter is currently under further consideration by the civic body.
