Heavy Rain to Continue Across Gujarat; IMD Issues Red, Orange and Yellow Alerts Till July 9

Surat: An incessant downpour has been battering Gujarat for the past few days, with several areas receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours, including Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Gir Somnath and others. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over the coming days, with red, orange and yellow alerts issued for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
As per the IMD bulletin, a red alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely in the districts of South Gujarat, namely Dang, Navsari and Valsad, as well as in Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In Saurashtra, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Gir Somnath districts, along with Diu, are also under a red alert for the next 24 hours.
An orange alert is in place, with heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places in the Gujarat region districts of Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat and Tapi, and in the Saurashtra districts of Rajkot and Junagadh.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the Gujarat region districts of Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar and Vadodara, and in the Saurashtra districts of Porbandar and Botad during the period.
For July 6, a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Dang, Navsari and Valsad. An orange alert is in place for Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Gir Somnath, while a yellow alert has been issued for Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, and the Saurashtra districts of Rajkot and Junagadh. The rest of the state is also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
On July 7, Dang, Navsari and Valsad will remain under a red alert, while Surat, Tapi, Bhavnagar and Amreli will be under an orange alert with a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch and Gir Somnath may also receive heavy rainfall and are under a yellow alert.
On July 8, the intensity of the rainfall may subside slightly, with only Dang, Navsari and Valsad remaining under an orange alert, while Surat, Tapi, Bhavnagar and Amreli will be under a yellow alert. The rest of the state is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
On July 9, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the South Gujarat districts of Dang, Navsari and Valsad, as well as in Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and these areas are under a yellow alert.
According to the IMD forecast, which is valid till 8:30 a.m. on July 12, the remaining districts where no alert has been issued are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
The weather department further stated that the Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 22°N/60°E, 22°N/65°E, Jamnagar, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jhunjhunu, Hisar, Bhatinda and 32.5°N/70°E as of July 5.
Conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab, and some more parts of Rajasthan during the next three days. DeshGujarat
