Ahmedabad City Gets Up to 4.1 Inches of Rainfall; Know Area-wise Data

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad city received widespread rainfall during the last 24 hours ending 6 am on July 5, with several areas recording moderate to heavy showers, according to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The highest amount of downpour was recorded in the Ognaj area at 105 mm (4.1 inches) during the 24-hour period.
The city recorded an average of 39.15 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours, taking the season’s average rainfall to 63.15 mm.
Among the city’s seven zones, the North West Zone received the highest average rainfall at 62.36 mm, followed by the South West Zone with 46.21 mm, West Zone with 42.79 mm, South Zone with 35.38 mm, Central Zone with 33.38 mm, East Zone with 27.81 mm, and North Zone with 26.10 mm.
At the ward level, Ognaj recorded the highest rainfall in the city with 105 mm during the 24-hour period. Other areas that received significant rainfall included Gota (72 mm), Ranip (66 mm), Sarkhej (60.5 mm), Memnagar (58.5 mm), Jodhpur Zonal (55.5 mm), Chandlodiya (55.5 mm), Chandkheda (54.5 mm), Science City (54 mm), and Bopal (53 mm).
The AMC data also shows that the city received 33.59 mm of rainfall during the overnight third shift (10 pm to 6 am), with intense spells reported in several western and north-western localities. Ognaj alone recorded 93 mm during the overnight hours, while Ranip received 62 mm, Gota 63 mm, Chandkheda 49 mm, Science City 47 mm, and Bopal 46.5 mm.
Meanwhile, the water level at Vasna Barrage on the Sabarmati River is 132.50 feet, and all gates remain closed as of this morning.
