Bhavnagar Bank Hacking Case: Three More Accused Arrested

Ahmedabad: The Cyber Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar has arrested three more people in connection with the hacking of the Bhavnagar District Cooperative Bank’s core banking system, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 10.

According to the police, the three accused were part of a network that arranged bank accounts to route money generated through the cyber fraud. The case involves the alleged siphoning of ₹7.3 crore after hackers compromised the bank’s servers, database, and core banking system.

As per the cops, the accused gained unauthorised access to the bank’s systems, manipulated electronic records, and created fake balances in four dormant bank accounts. The fraudulently generated funds were then transferred to 135 bank accounts to distribute the money among members of the syndicate, causing significant losses to the bank.

The latest arrested accused are Anil Agravat (36) of Surat, Bhumil Patel (32) of Vasad in Anand district, and Vikas Chaudhary (28) of Chomu, Rajasthan.

Police said Agravat allegedly allowed his bank account to be used for the fraud. Patel is accused of activating internet banking for the account, creating the login credentials, and sharing them with other members of the syndicate. Chaudhary allegedly accompanied Patel to Bhavnagar to open the account. It is learnt that Chaudhary was also in contact with members of the hacking network, and his role is under further investigation. DeshGujarat
