Gujarat Police Conduct Searches at Suspected Madrasas After Arrest of 13 JeM Operatives

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Police have intensified their investigation into the alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror module uncovered in the state, launching a statewide search operation at suspected locations, including madrasas linked to some of the arrested suspects. The crackdown follows the arrest of 13 alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operatives by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

The Gujarat Police and ATS are currently questioning the arrested suspects to gather more information about their activities, associates and possible plans. Based on preliminary findings, the ATS, along with district Special Operations Group (SOG) teams, has launched coordinated searches in multiple districts, including Bharuch, Ankleshwar, Surat, Modasa, Patan, Palanpur, Kalol and Ahmedabad. Investigators are also examining digital evidence recovered from the suspects’ mobile phones to identify associates and trace the extent of the alleged network.

Officials are also scrutinising the contacts of the suspect arrested from Ahmedabad, as investigators believe the probe could reveal additional links to the alleged module.

According to investigators, the accused allegedly used social media platforms to identify and radicalise individuals with anti-national views by circulating videos of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar. The probe has also revealed alleged contacts with handlers based in Pakistan.

Police claim the suspects had also experimented with making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and received weapons training during visits to Jammu & Kashmir. Authorities are also searching a madrasa where some of the accused are believed to have stayed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officials said the investigation is continuing, and more details are expected to emerge as questioning and digital forensic analysis progress. DeshGujarat
