Gujarat ATS arrests eight Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives; foils bid to build terror network

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested eight alleged operatives linked to the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) from different parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. According to the ATS, the accused were allegedly working to establish an active network in Gujarat to further the organisation’s terror activities.

A case has been registered against all eight accused at the ATS Police Station. The accused have been booked under Sections 13, 17, 18, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA), along with Sections 148 and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The arrested accused have been identified as:

1. Ahmed Abdullah Gajiwala @ Abu Ubaida (19 years) – r/o Bhagal, Palanpur, Banaskantha

2. Ibrahim Mohammad Husen Ghagha @ Abu Hamza (30 years) – r/o Bhagal, Palanpur, Banaskantha

3. Mudassir Abdullah Ghaziwala @ Abu Aya (22 years) – r/o Bhagal, Palanpur, Banaskantha

4. Zakariya Durani Mohammad Ammar Ghagha @ Ibn Ammar @ Zakariya Palanpuri (21 years) – r/o Jamia Abul Hasan Madrasa, Khadiyasana, Siddhpur, Patan

5. Mufti Faujan Ismail Dauwa @ Mufti Sahab (40 years) – Jamia Abul Hasan Madrasa, Khadiyasana, Siddhpur, Patan

6. Mohammad Amin Shera @ Amin Palanpuri (21 years) – Jamia Abul Hasan Madrasa, Khadiyasana, Siddhpur, Patan

7. Mohammad Abdul Rahman Savdi @ Mohammad Palanpuri @ Abu Unisa (22 years) – Jamia Rahmaniya Khambhiya, Ambheta, Chikhli, Navsari

8. Bilal Durani Mohammad Ammar Ghagha @ Abu Dujana @ Abu Sufiyan @ Abu Zundal @ Umar bin Khattab (18 years) – Warsi Nagar, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh

The Gujarat ATS is expected to share further details about the investigation and the alleged terror network during a press conference scheduled to be held at its Ahmedabad headquarters later this evening. The agency is likely to provide information on the accused’s activities, their alleged links with Jaish-e-Mohammed, and the investigation carried out so far.
