Isro’s Space application Center(SAC) in Ahmedabad designed and developed censors(cameras or eyes) for India’s two recently launched satellites Cartosat- 2A and IMS-1. When these two satellites along with the other 8 foreign satellites were launched successfully to the space on Monday, SAC Ahmedabad campus was jubilant.

Cartosat-2A is India’s first satellite that would address military needs along with the civilian tasks. The high-resolution mapping satellite CARTOSAT 2-A, which, while placed at a height of over 600 kilometers, can identify objects as small as a car. Cartosat 21 will be helpful to capture images of Pakistan and China’s missile launchers’ placements too. While IMS-1 has two cameras. Images from one camera(mx) will be provided free to developing nations’ laboratories, research institutions and universities while another camera(Hyl) will be useful for Indian oceanic, vegetation, mining related studies.More details of Cartosat-2A and IMS-1 are given below in Isro’s graphical pressnotes.

અમદાવાદમાં ઈસરોનું સ્પેસ એપ્લીકેશન સેન્ટર સોમવારે ઉત્સવના વાતાવરણમાં હતુ. દક્ષિણ ભારતના શ્રી હરિકોટાથી ઈસરોએ પીએસએલવી દ્વારા એકસાથે દસ ઉપગ્રહો અવકાશમાં તરતા મૂક્યા તેમાં બે ઉપગ્રહો ભારતના હતા. અ બંને ઉપગ્રહોની આંખો એટલેકે કેમેરા ઈસરોના અમદાવાદ કેન્દ્રમા ડિઝાઈન કરવામાં અને ડેવલપ કરવામાં આવ્યા છે.

કાર્ટોસેટ ટુ-એ નામનો ઉપગ્રહ એવો છે કે જે પૃથ્વીથી ૬૦૦ કિલોમીટર ઉપર હોય તો પણ નીચે એક કારનો સ્પષ્ટ ફોટો પાડી શકે છે. આટલે ઉંચેથી આ ઉપગ્રહ એક મીટર કરતા નાની ચીજની તસવીર લઈ શકતો હોવાથી આ ઉપગ્રહ પાકિસ્તાન અને ચીનના મિસાઈલ લોંચર સુદ્ધાની તસવીર લઈ શકશે. ભારતની સેના લાંબા સમયથી માંગણી કરતી હતી કે પૂર્ણ રીતે સેનાના અને જાસૂસીના ઉપયોગમાં આવે એવો કોઈક ઉપગ્રહ હોવો જોઈએ. હવે સેનાની માંગ કાર્ટોસેટ ટુ-એ સાથે પૂરી થઈ છે. કાર્ટોસેટ ટુ-એનો અત્યાધુનિક કેમેરા અમદાવાદના ઈસરોના સ્પેસ એપ્લિકેશન સેન્ટરમાં તૈયાર થયો છે એ આનંદની વાત છે.

અન્ય એક ઉપગ્રહ જે છોડવામાં આવ્યો એ છે આઈએમએસ-૧. આને થર્ડ વર્લ્ડ સેટેલાઈટ પણ કહેવામાં આવે છે. આ ઉપગ્રહમાં બે કેમેરા છે. જેમાંનો એક વિકાસશીલ રાષ્ટ્રોની લેબોરેટરીઓ, રિસર્ચ સંસ્થાઓ અને યુનિવર્સિટીઓને મફત ઈમેજો પૂરી પાડશે જ્યારે બીજો કેમેરો ભારતના ઉપયોગ માટે હશે કે જે ૬૪ અલગ અલગ રંગો પહેચાનીને તસવીર બનાવશે. ઓસ્ટ્રેલીયામાં આ પ્રકારના કેમેરાથી ખાણોના કામમાં બહુ મદદ મળે છે. બંને ઉપગ્રહોના ચિત્રો અને વિશેષ માહિતી અંગ્રેજીમાં નીચે ઈસરોની ગ્રાફીકલ પ્રેસનોટમાં ઉપલબ્ધ છે.
