Allow rickshaw parking at Amdavad airport:Modi tells Praful
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 5 July 2010

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday requested union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel to allow rickshaw parking at Ahmedabad’s Saradar Patel international airport. Modi said the days are gone when only high-class people were using flight services. Nowadays even a clerk wants his family to enjoy plane journey once in life. There are more common people traveling in planes but, the AAI still possesses a mentality that only high-class people travel in planes and therefore the AAI doesn’t permit rickshaws to park in airport premises. This has caused a situation in Ahmedabad that a person who wants to take rickshaw to go to his desired place in city has to walk two kilometers in search of rickshaw. Rickshaw is an identity of this city and allowing rickshaws at Ahmedabad airport parking will not diminish image of this airport, therefore they should be allowed here.

Modi said the growth in this sector took place so fast that, resources could not be developed in similar speed. Gujarat has in total 20 airports and the state is now in process to develop 11 more airports. Only Gujarat’s one single Kutch district has five airports.

Modi said Gujarat is committed for Public Private Partnership(PPP)model and it is now developing airports at popular pilgrim/tourist places such as Palitana, Dwarka and Ambaji. “One company is already prepared to start air-taxi service in Gujarat. But that company wants to import a plane from foreign land. A permission has been sought from central government for import of that plane,” Modi added.

Modi suggested that each of those airports named after some great personality in India should house multi language kiosks with all detail about that particular great person. Modi also suggested to initiate solar power and rain water conservation efforts at airport buildings. He praised the usage of solar light at Ahmedabad’s new airport building terminal 2.

but if we just walk forword we can get them so modi is right and its voice of pepole of india

  4. Atindra says:

He always echoes common men’s sentiments. AAI must allow Auto-rickshaw parking facility near all the airports in the country. I’ve used many times Auto-rickshaw for coming and going to Airport.

  5. varun says:

I agree to mr. modi that there shold be rickshaw parking.

  6. HARDIK says:

Just now Auto-ricksshaw at Airport is being managed by Sindhi Rickshaw Association, allowing of facilities like prepaid rixa, Allowing would usher in democracy and all rickshawallahs can take advantage of ferrying passengers.

Pune Airport has rixa stand. Old airport at Bangalore also used to have it.

  7. Mr.Jesing Sheth., says:

Mr.Modi a chief minister of gujarat state is also a common man too.
His recommendations to allow autorikshaws parking near all Airports
will prove to be a blessing in disguise for all airline passengers.

  8. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH HON.CHIEFMINISTER’S VIEW. ITS TIME NOW ELITE CLASS N COMMON MAN ALL ARE TRAVELLING BY AIR. SO AUTOS SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT THE AIRPORT AND ITS CHEAPER FOR A SINGLE OR DOUBLE TRAVELLER.

SOLAR POWER AND WATER CONSERVATION ITS A GREAT IDEA.

GUJ SHOULD DEVELOP MORE AIRPORTS AT PILIGRIMAGE PLACES AS THERE ARE MANY INDIANS STAYING ABRAOD CAN HAVE THE BEST OF IT.

  9. prashant patel says:

Wherever we go still we remain amdawadi. Rikshaws remind us that “we are back in our life in first step out of the airport”. I will support this idea cause many NRI’s still don’t have car in that case scenario riksaws is cheaper and amdawadi ways to travel.

  10. Nataver Parikh says:

Good to hear about Rikshaws at the Ahmedabad Air port.
