Holy Hindu Gujarati month ‘Shravan’ of ‘Samvat 2066′ begins today

Holy month of Shravan(Samvat 2066) begins today(10th of August, 2010) in Gujarat. The first day of Shravan collides with ‘Amaas’. On 11th of August, there will be second day of Shravan.
During the month of Shravan, 15th of August will be an independence day holiday, 19th will be a Parsi new year day, on 24th of August, it’s Shravan sud poonam aka Rakshabandhan festival. Nag Panchami falls on 30th of this month and Randhan Chhat on 31st.
The festival of Janmashtami will come on 2nd September. The month of Shravan will end on 8 September ‘Ammas’.
Gujarat’s Shri Somnath mandir teerth, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, and many other Shivalayas celebrate Shravan festival.

Wow! What a coincident? Hindu Gujarati’s Holy month ‘Shravan’ starts on the August 10, 2010. Muslim Gujarati’s Holy month Ramadan might start same day or definitely next day, depending on the moon sighting. Both will be celebrated together, next 30 days, side by side.
Years back, Diawali and Eid ul-Fitr were next to each others.
Holy Month Shravan Mubarak to all my Hindu Gujarati brothers and sisters.
Also Happy Parsi New year to all my Parsi brothers and sisters in the advance. Definitely, Parsi are real Gujarati, too who accepted most Gujarati customs & cultures, including Gujarati language.
