Gandhinagar, 23 February, 2012
Gujarat Congress today created ruckus on Gandhinagar’s Gh3 circle, and also inside the Gujarat assembly house, on the first day of budget session 2012.
While public meeting of Gujarat Congress was permitted near Pathikashram, the march to Gujarat assembly complex was not permitted as the assembly was in session and prohibitory orders were effective in specific areas close to the assembly complex.
After completing the public meeting, Congress leaders tried to cross the Gh-3 circle beyond permit given to them. Police attempted light lathicharge and lobbed couple of tear gas shells to stop the rally. While majority of Congress workers elected to leave the place, some others including Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia and former CM Shankersinh Vaghela surrendered and were detained.
On the other side, in Gujarat assembly, as soon as the Governor praised the state government and used the word ‘Sadbhavana’ the Congress MLAs stood up and started shouting slogans ‘hisab do, jawab do.’ After waiting for some time, Governor stopped her oral speech and declared it completed. She left the house after which the opposition members of Congress also left the house and again started shouting slogans outside the house in a lobby. Today was the first day of Gujarat assembly budget session which will conclude on 30th of March.
