2002 Umta Case Verdict: All 109 innocent, not guilty

In a case related to killing of two persons in Umta village near Visnagar town of Mehsana district in the 2002 riot, a court in Visnagar today pronounced the verdict and acquitted all 109 accused giving them benefit of doubt.
A total of 120 people were accused of being involved in the murder of two Muslims in Umta village in north Gujarat during the post-Godhra riots.
Eleven people died during the course of the trial.
According to case details, two persons, Mohammed Shaikh Abdul Mansuri, were allegedly killed by an angry mob on March 1, 2002.
