Pakistan marines open fire off Gujarat coast, one injured

One Gujarat fisherman was badly injured in open fire by Pakistan Marine security Agency off Gujarat coast.
Pakistani marines fired 50-60 rounds from the machine gun at Mangrol’s Ashok Sagar boat. When fishermen contacted Indian Coast Guard through wireless, a Coast Guard ship Tarabai rushed to the spot and brought injured fisherman and others to the nearest Jakhau port.
“One of the six fishermen on board, Daya Bhai, sustained bullet injuries when Pakistan Marine Security Agency personnel opened indiscriminate fire on them late last night as they were fishing in international sea,” Marine police officials said.
The fishermen who witnessed the attack has claimed it as unprovoked.
A case has been however registered in this regard with the Marine Police station in Okha.
Porbandar Coast Guard DIG Rajan Bargotra said Pakistani marines fired after the boat tried to flee after being apprehended.
The injured fisherman, Raju Vira Solanki (45), who belonged to Okha in Jamnagar district, has been admitted to Naliya referral hospital at Kutch.
