Shame! Children are catered porn jokes under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

How shameful is this? The Gujarat government’s Education department circulates a monthly magazine containing pornographic jokes to lakhs of primary school children studying in government schools across the state.
The Education department of Gujarat government has selected a magazine ‘Puzzle Magic’ for circulation in primary schools under ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’.
The magazine regularly caters two-three pages of jokes.
DeshGujarat has possession of several recent issues of the magazine, and it has been noticed that the jokes totally objectionable for circulation among children are catered regularly in this magazine.
It is very shameful that the Education department of Gujarat govt circulates such literature among kids through tax payers money assisted under central government’s flagship education scheme Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

But lets grow up and do not blame Govt. Rather blame a relevant dept and relevant person.
Yes. when it is gujarat, lets not blame government but only a department. but when it is center lets blame government, sonia gandhi, rahul gandhi and their fore fathers etc. Double standards? or just tyical gujarati attitude?

When the whole Govt is bad, doing wrong things, looking after particular community, stealing people’s money and saving in swiss accounts, when they continuously do these kind of blunders, when they dont care about people, THEN THEN THEN you blam the government.
But in this case, none of above is true, and to be frank this is first such blunder I saw in 10 years of Modi rule. So, if you apply logic, you can tell that Govt is not bad. Its some crook minded officer in Govt who is responsible..

It must be intentionally did job by someone inside the State Education Board. Otherwise this literate body must be that conscious that even they can deffenciate between what is good and what is bad.

Any school library in high school will subscribe for chitralekha or any monthly magazine. How can we blame the school or any authority if chitralekha has something wrong?
We can’t blame government for it. But the person(employee) who signed on behalf of department should be discharged. He should be careful to chose this type of magazine.
It is not published by government. It is a monthly magazine of private publication. And it was meant for library use.

Achildren’s magazine containing ribald jokes has failed to tickle the funny bone of parents. They are furious that the seemingly innocuous magazine meant for children is not only available in the market but was to be distributed under the education department’s Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme.
Most jokes in the puzzle mag openly talk of infidelity and have sexual connotations. Considering that the magazine is meant for children up to Class 8, such jokes can have a negative effect on young minds. That the books are available in city markets and elsewhere is also a cause for concern.
Crores of rupees are given as grants for publication of children’s magazines under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). Gujarat Education Department has procured magazines through e-tendering for mathematics, science and general knowledge. They also procured magazines for teachers in this manner.
The magazines were to be distributed in more than 64,000 schools across the state.
Over 38 publication houses had applied through tenders and were selected for different districts or zones under the programme.
SSA Commissioner (Gujarat) Manoj Agrawal said, “The publication house has been served a notice for not seeking approval for magazine content. Despite the notice, publishers sent more than 700 magazines to the Surendranagar education office.”
Agrawal claimed it is unlikely that children would have got their hands on the magazine as they were sent on June 11 and schools began their academic session on June 14. These magazines are yet to reach schools, Agrawal claimed.
Agrawal further explained that tenders of various publishers were approved districtwise.
Accordingly, the magazine in question had been given rights to distribute magazine in Surendranagar. However, it still remains unexplained how the education office in Surendranagar accepted the stock of magazines with offensive content if the magazine had been served notice.
Sources claimed that while the magazine may have erred in publishing jokes offensive to children, it has become a matter of debate due to a tussle between publishers to grab orders under the SSA.
-What do you expect the magazines to contain? A Bhajan ! No!
-When we have central leaders like Tiwary, Singhvi, Maderna, milkiat singh… how can the central sponsored schemes be free from porn?
-The publication house is not for children but more to please the central ministers.
-More porn = more funds from central govt.
-Maybe the publisher and printer is the same one publishing the Joshi and other posters!

Jokes apart,I can’t understand why are many of the said elderly making so much ruckus over here??
I didn’t heard anyone when movies like Ra.One and Rowdy rathor makes a cut with U and U/A certificate. Double meaning jokes, sexy dances, violence everything was present in those movies abundantly.Nobody shouted, nobody showed any anger on the contrary they garlanded them with loads of money, we can see that as both of them are proud members of 100 cr movie club..
Once in a while we see news line in newspaper saying “Schools girl’s mms makes ripples in the city”! Everybody criticizes it but only after watching it that is evident by seeing the number of hits on the internet.
It become evident, one more time, that hypocrisy is a fashion in our society!
It is a really shameful for anyone to publish such jokes in kids magazine.
However are we not missing another aspect.
The Times of India who EXPOSED this are in no way saints. Pull out any Times supplement. You will find cartoons for kids (and grownups like it too). On the other pages will be pics of scantly clad models, (recently nude pics of a model), stories of sexual exploits of models. etc., etc. etc.
Can we not have a kids supplement to improve general knowledge, awareness of good things going around us, inspiring stories, motivational quotes etc for children separately along with the cartoons.
The stories of hollywood and bollywood can go on other separate pages.
But does TOI care? Dear TOI, Please visit your on backyard also and try to clean it up.
