Kandla Port’s net profit Rs 257 crore, annual meeting of trustees takes important decisions

Gujarat’s Kandla port earned Rs 389 crore profit during last financial year. After paying Rs 132 crore income tax, the clear profit figure was Rs 257 crore.
With total 93.62 million metric tonne(MMT) cargo handling, Kandla port registered 13.47% increase in traffic.
A meeting of trustees of Kandla Port Trust was held at Kandla yesterday to pass annual accounts.
As per the decisions taken in the meeting, a new Rs 4.7 crore modern sports complex will be constructed in Kandla. Work order of this project shall be given to a Bangalore based party. Rs 27.66 crore automatic SA control system will be activated at Kandla port, Vadinara and Gandhidham port colony. Work order of this project has been handed over Haryana based party.
Under corporate social responsibility, Anjar taluka’s Vira village will get Rs 9.75 lakh approach road, tiles in water body, R.O. water plant. Many parties have taken interest in Vira SBM project.
Shipping ministry has given security clearance for ship bunkering in old Kandla and barge jetty in Tuna. More hospitals (Gandhidham and Bhuj) are added to the list of direct payment system for employees of port.
