Tamil Nadu Government’s scheme to provide 100 gram Idli @ Re 1, sambar rice @ Rs 5 and curd rice @ Rs 3 through Amma canteens has been super hit among people, and such canteens attract long queues of people daily. The government gives a subsidy of 90 paise per idli, Rs 5 for sambar rice and Rs 3.50 for curd rice. There are more than 70 centers across Chennai running Amma canteens scheme.
