Gir Somnath: The local police on Friday nabbed a narcotics dealer 30 nautical miles off the Gujarat coast. In the first such operation for Gujarat police, the narcotics dealer from Karnataka, who had been evading capture at sea for one and a half months, was apprehended in a case related to the seizure of a Rs. 350 crore drug haul.
Gir Somnath SP Manoharsinh Jadeja said, “that during the interrogation of a drug peddler, it was revealed that Shivkumar Chennan Kounder, also known as Shiva, was the main dealer and had been on the run in the high seas for around one and a half months. The police teams had previously ventured out to the mid-sea 2-3 times in search of him. On Thursday night, we identified Shiva’s precise location, prompting us to prepare three teams. While one team was deployed to the sea, the other two remained on standby.” DeshGujarat
