Dahod getting ready for Delhi – Mumbai Expressway connectivity; Bypass road to be four-lane
May 10, 2026
Dahod: To address increasing traffic congestion in Dahod, the state administration has initiated work to convert the six-kilometre stretch from the Jhalod Road overbridge to the Kharod bypass into a four-lane road corridor at an estimated cost of Rs 35.52 crore.
The road connects the overbridge area with National Highway 56 and is considered one of the busiest stretches in the city due to the presence of schools, colleges, courts and government offices along the route.
Officials said the project has been planned keeping in view the expected rise in vehicular movement after the operationalisation of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is likely later this year. The state Roads and Buildings Department has begun the tendering process for the project.
Under the plan, the road will feature a 15-metre-wide asphalt carriageway along with 2.5-metre-wide paver block footpaths on both sides. A central divider will also be constructed.
The project will additionally include installation of solar-powered street lights, CCTV cameras and traffic signboards.
Authorities said small and large bridges as well as roadside drainage structures along the stretch will be widened. Encroachments on forest land and temporary structures along the road will also be removed.
Water pipelines and irrigation lines of the municipality that currently obstruct the proposed alignment will be shifted as part of the project. DeshGujarat
