Vadodara Gas Ltd CNG price hiked to Rs 83.95 per kg, PNG rate rises to Rs 51.74 per unit

Vadodara: Vadodara Gas Limited (VGL) has increased the prices of PNG and CNG for the second time in five months, putting additional pressure on household budgets and transport costs.

According to the revised rates, the price of PNG supplied through pipelines has been increased by Rs 1.50 per cubic metre, taking the new rate to Rs 51.74. The company has also raised CNG prices by Re 1 per kg, with the revised rate now standing at Rs 83.95 per kg in Vadodara.

The hike is expected to impact families, autorickshaw drivers, cab operators and daily commuters who rely on CNG vehicles.

The rise in fuel prices comes amid volatility in global oil and gas markets due to tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Sources said the increase in natural gas procurement costs and supply instability in the international market have added pressure on gas companies.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have also gone up. On May 1, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 993, affecting hotels, restaurants, tea stalls and small businesses.

VGL has expanded its underground gas pipeline network in recent years, with its customer base increasing from 2.82 lakh to over 3 lakh consumers. However, despite revising rates from May 1, the company has not issued any formal public announcement, with the updated prices reflected only on its website.

Earlier in January 2026, VGL had increased PNG prices by 73 paise per cubic metre to Rs 50.23, while CNG prices were raised by Re 1 per kg to Rs 82.95. The latest hike is expected to directly affect nearly 3 lakh consumers in the city. DeshGujarat
