Ahmedabad: The education department has sprung into action following allegations that a school in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area has been illegally collecting money from students under the guise of Leaving Certificate (LC) fees.
The Allegations
The controversy surrounds the Seventh Day Adventist School located in Nikol, which has been accused of unlawfully charging students ₹300 to issue their Leaving Certificates. This practice is in direct violation of established educational rules.
The school itself has disclosed that the unauthorized collection of the LC fees was being carried out under the explicit orders of the school’s principal. Surprisingly, the institution was even issuing official receipts to the students who paid this illegal fee.
Education Department Intervenes
The illicit fee collection came to light after disgruntled parents filed formal complaints against the school. Following these grievances, the District Education Officer (DEO) initiated strict administrative action.
The education department has officially issued a show-cause notice to the Seventh Day Adventist School, demanding a formal explanation for their actions. Furthermore, a thorough investigation has been launched into the entire matter of illegally extracting funds from students in the name of issuing Leaving Certificates. DeshGujarat
