Forged Will Used to Grab Multi-Crore Properties in Ahmedabad, CID Crime Books Six

Ahmedabad: The CID Crime has uncovered an alleged land grab conspiracy involving prime properties worth several crore rupees in Ahmedabad’s Vejalpur and Jodhpur areas. The accused are alleged to have fabricated hospital records, forged signatures and created a fake will to deprive a woman of her rightful share in her ancestral property.

The Economic Offences Prevention Branch (EOPB) of CID Crime has registered a case of cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy and other related offences against six persons.

According to the complaint filed by Ratilal Thakor, 56, a resident of Bopal village, his father died in 2003 and his mother, Shakri, passed away in 2021. He alleged that his maternal grandfather, Khodaji Shivaji, owned valuable properties in Jodhpur, Vejalpur and Chaloda village in Dholka taluka, but his mother was denied her lawful inheritance.

The complaint alleges that the six accused conspired to prevent Shakri and her legal heirs from claiming their share of the ancestral property. As part of the alleged conspiracy, they prepared a forged will in 2006 by fabricating Khodaji Shivaji’s signatures and creating fake supporting documents, which were then used to take control of the properties.

According to the complaint, Shakri approached a civil court in 2012 to establish herself as the legal heir. However, the accused allegedly took advantage of her illiteracy and convinced her to withdraw her application. After later realising she had been misled, she again approached the court, which eventually recognised her as Khodaji Shivaji’s legal heir.

A handwriting expert’s report subsequently confirmed that the signatures attributed to Khodaji Shivaji on the disputed will were forged.

Based on the findings, the CID Crime has booked six accused, including two who have since died. They have been identified as Ramesh Thakor (deceased), Hira Thakor, Anand Thakor (deceased), Baldev Bharwad, Praval Chavda and Vipul Patel.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the alleged land fraud and the role of each accused. DeshGujarat
