Bharatiya Janata Party has dropped party’s 24 sitting corporators and denied them a ticket to contest Junagadh Municipal Corporation(JMC) election.

The party announced a list of 45 candidates yesterday, in which only six corporators are repeated to contest the election. Candidature of current Mayor, Standing Committee Chairman, JMC leader of the party, ex office bearers has not been renewed.

Meanwhile, ex central minister Bhavnaben Chikhaliya filed her nomination today to contest the election of Junagadh Municipal Corporation.

BJP is giving very much importance and attention to Junagadh election. The party could secured less votes than the Congress in Junagadh in Lok Sabha elections, two months back. Then the Chief Minister visited Junagadh to dedicate Cheetahs in Junagadh’s Sakkarbag zoo. Recently in the state budget, Gujarat govt announced special Sorath(Junagadh district) Tourism development project. Today in a meeting of state wild-life board at Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Narendra Modi cleared Junagadh’s much awaited Girnar rope way project. Modi approved transfer of forest land to Usha Breko company which is going to develop a 1.5 km long rope way to the highest mountain of Gujarat.
