In Photos: After long wait, Ahmedabad receives moderate shower finally(updated)

After hot and humid day, the city of Ahmedabad on Tuesday received moderate quantity of shower late in the evening at around 11.45 pm.
This after lightning in the sky and heavy winds that started at around 10.00 pm or so.
Each drop of Tuesday’s shower was large in size and the amount of rain was considerably good. Exact measure of this shower will be out by Wednesday noon.
The city witnessed a special prayer at Jumma masjid by Muslims and Parjanya Yagna by Hindus in Maninagar area this week(in the video above).
Prior to Tuesday shower, Ahmedabad had received only 35 mm rain this monsoon(starting from 1 June) which was 76 mm lesser than normal average.
Today’s shower is really a very good news for the city. It’s 11.59 pm here and it’s still raining heavily.

The shower stopped at around 1.00 pm or so.

According to state control room, the city of Ahmedabad received 35 mm rain in last 24 hours(ending at 8.00 am today). The city’s total rain fall by 8.00 am on 3 July was 51 mm, which is now 86 mm. The city gets 768 mm shower on average in monsoon in total. 86 mm is 11.20% of that.
