Temperatures Dip Across Gujarat After Pre-Monsoon Showers; Ahmedabad Records 3.8°C Drop

Ahmedabad: Widespread cloud cover and pre-monsoon showers brought relief from the summer heat across several parts of Gujarat, leading to a noticeable drop in maximum temperatures on Tuesday.

In Ahmedabad, the showers significantly eased the heat, bringing the maximum temperature down from 40.8°C on Monday to 37°C on Tuesday, a sharp decline of 3.8°C within 24 hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 37°C, which was 4.3°C below normal, while neighbouring Gandhinagar registered 36.2°C, a significant 4.7°C below the seasonal average, the largest negative departure recorded in the state.

Vadodara also witnessed cooler than normal conditions, with the mercury settling at 36.4°C, 3.3°C below normal. Deesa recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8°C, which was 3.8°C below normal, while Bhavnagar and Amreli reported temperatures 2.9°C and 1.3°C below normal, respectively.

In contrast, parts of Kutch and Saurashtra continued to experience above normal temperatures. Naliya recorded a maximum temperature of 37.4°C, 2.4°C above normal, while Bhuj remained the hottest place in the state at 41°C, registering a departure of 2.3°C above normal. Okha, Kandla and Porbandar also reported temperatures slightly above their seasonal averages.

Rajkot recorded a maximum temperature of 40.7°C, remaining close to normal, while Surat registered 34.5°C, marginally below normal.

Light rainfall activity was reported only in Deesa, which received 2 mm of rain during the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on June 3.

The dip in daytime temperatures across central and north Gujarat brought some respite to residents, although humidity levels remained relatively high in coastal areas, including Veraval, Diu and Dwarka. DeshGujarat
