IndiGo Flight from Pune Executes Go-Around Before Landing at Ahmedabad Airport; Faces 45-Minute Delay

Ahmedabad: Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Pune to Ahmedabad experienced an unexpected delay on Thursday morning after the aircraft was forced to abort its initial landing attempt at Ahmedabad airport and execute a go-around before landing safely.

The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 2155, which departed Pune at around 8.55 am and was scheduled to arrive at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10.05 am. However, during its approach to the runway, the aircraft reportedly had to discontinue the landing and climb back into the air before making a second approach.

It is learnt that the aircraft’s initial approach was deemed unstable, prompting the pilots to carry out a go-around procedure. The flight eventually landed safely after circling and making another landing attempt, resulting in a delay of approximately 45 minutes.

Passengers on board said the aircraft appeared to be moments away from touchdown before suddenly ascending again, causing concern among travellers.

A passenger travelling on the flight stated that the pilot later informed passengers that air traffic control had determined the aircraft’s speed was too high for a safe landing, raising the possibility of overshooting the runway. As a precaution, the pilots opted to abort the landing and attempt a second approach.

Airport officials confirmed that the manoeuvre was carried out as a safety measure. In aviation, such procedures, known as a “go-around” or aborted landing, may be initiated due to factors such as an unstable approach, runway occupancy, weather conditions, visibility issues, or air traffic control instructions.
