Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez Visits Jamnagar

Jamnagar: Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, visited Jamnagar on Friday as part of her India tour and participated in a tree plantation drive to mark World Environment Day, conveying a global message of environmental conservation and sustainability.

During her visit, Rodríguez planted a sapling at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) campus in Jamnagar before proceeding to Vantara, Anant Ambani’s wildlife rescue and conservation initiative, where she was also scheduled to undertake a plantation activity. Her visit forms part of a broader India tour aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between India and Venezuela in key sectors, including energy and sustainability.

Rodríguez arrived at Jamnagar Airport earlier in the day and was accorded a warm welcome by local dignitaries, including Jamnagar Mayor Monica Vyas, District Collector P.B. Pandya, Indian Ambassador to Venezuela P.K. Ashok Babu, and District Superintendent of Police Dr. Ravi Mohan Saini.

Following her arrival, the Venezuelan leader travelled directly to the city’s main RTO office in a convoy of more than 80 vehicles. At the World Environment Day programme, she planted a tree and highlighted the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development. Senior forest officials, including Deputy Conservator of Forests Arun Kumar, were present on the occasion.

After the RTO event, Rodríguez was scheduled to visit Vantara, Reliance’s nature conservation and wildlife rehabilitation project in Jamnagar.

Security arrangements were significantly strengthened across the city in view of the high-profile visit. Police personnel were deployed along the entire route covering the airport, RTO office, Vantara and other key locations.
