Tata Power’s Mundra Plant Gets Extension to Continue Operations Till Sept 30
June 25, 2026
Mundra: The Union government has extended the special operating framework for Tata Power’s 4,000-MW Mundra thermal power plant until September 30, allowing the imported coal-based facility to continue supplying electricity under government directions for another three months.
In a stock exchange filing, Tata Power said the Ministry of Power has extended the validity of its directions for the Mundra plant, which were earlier scheduled to expire on June 30, 2026.
The Mundra plant, operated by Tata Power’s subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd (CGPL), supplies electricity to Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.
The extension follows the Centre’s earlier decision directing imported coal-based power plants to remain operational to help meet electricity demand during the peak consumption season. DeshGujarat
